To the plant lovers out there, we know you are already rolling your eyes, but hear us out, in our opinion there is a place for faux and a place for the real thing, sometimes even a mixture of both.
But in an office space, there has to someone who is dedicated and “somewhat passionate” about the upkeep of plants in order to maintain their benefits.
Let’s unpack some of the factual benefits of being surrounded by greenery. IE: The ones you can Google and they will no doubt, come up.
- (Real) Plants can increase productivity and creativity by almost 15%.
- (Real) Plants have proven to improve cognitive function.
- (Real) Plants can improve the air by eliminating pollutants and creating oxygen.
- (Real) Plants can help lower stress levels, and overall just make us happier and more at ease.
There really isn’t anything more beautiful than plants, but when it comes to upkeep in offices, they are a major responsibility, and one that not everyone is keen to put their hands up for.
Real plants grow and change which makes them like living art.
But yes, they can die and are expensive to keep replacing.
Now let’s chat about why we love installing FAUX plants over real ones:
Modern artificial flowers are so realistic and carefully crafted that people simply can’t tell if they are real or artificial by sight alone. Even touching the detailed, silk-based leaves may not give them the answer straight away.
We like to add faux plants where there isn’t much light and to add greenery which softens up spaces really well. So whether every plant you had in the office has died within a month or you have one dark area that seems to always cause a problem, there’s a perfect faux plant for every area in your space.
Smaller artificial trees and plants can also be placed in areas that wouldn’t be able to support the weight of a growing tree. This is why faux options tend to be preferred for balconies, rooftops, and indoor locations.
Once you start to explore the faux plant options out there, you’ll quickly realise they are pricey, although more expensive, this is a once off cost and makes up for paying over and over again for plants that have died because you forgot to water them.
Artificial plants will often cost you less overall and they come fully grown – no patience or feeding is required. So when you are comparing real to faux, don’t forget to factor in the care costs – in time and money – for a real plant and do consider the risk that it may not survive. With artificial plants, you can be sure to get long-term value for money.
Faux plants can thrive anywhere in your office, in the dingy dark corners, boardrooms, canteens, anywhere really.
During the December period, where employees are rarely in the office, you will have peace of mind that they won’t die on you. With an artificial plant, you won’t have to worry about it outgrowing the spot you’ve placed it in, or other items blocking their sunlight, which will ultimately result in it not making it through the holidays.
How we love to add plants into your office space:
Hanging plants: The addition of hanging plants make an airy space feel more cosy. Higher ceilings can cause echo’s and hanging plants assist in the acoustics of large spaces – to eliminate any signs of echo. Also, they look great.
Plant/feature walls are a signature at SA Office Interiors. Be it wall panelling, a custom printed wallpaper or artwork. Walk in to an office place and be blown away at the reality of the plants (they can be real). This adds an extra element of design and personality into your space.
Don’t get us wrong, we LOVE a little bit of nature, and the aesthetic of real plants – but we would highly recommend keeping those in the comfort of your home
